Actometer
Actometer observes the activity of the cow

The right time for observation of an in heat situation is a continuous problem in dairy farming.

Because of the heavy work load on a farm, the in heat situation is often not observed on time, resulting in late insemination.

This is reason why Strangko introduced a system, which observes the cow's activity all through the day, and which helps the farmer decide the right time for insemination.

A cow in heat will show a high activity rate for a longer of shorter period. Now and then the increased activity only takes place in the night time, which makes it practically impossible for the dairyman to observe the change. Here Strangko’s ACTOMETER is very helpful in observing the cow’s activity around the clock.

Acto-transponder
All cows having calved get an Acto transponder on their leg. This transponder counts the movements of the leg. At each milking the data of the cow is read, and then it can be read on the Milk-Control and transferred to the PC.
High activity: In heat
Low activity: Possible illness

Processing
After each milking a number of steps per hour is calculated and compared to the number of steps from previous periods. If the activity is higher than the average activity, the cow will be shown on a deviation list. The dairyman can set which deviations are to be shown on these lists. This list is automatically printed out after each milking, and thus the dairyman can immediately observe the change in activity.
